PATNA: Bihar government on Tuesday morning recommended to the Centre CBI investigation in the death of film star,Sushant Singh Rajpout on June 14,Chief Minister,Nitish Kumar announced today. Nitish told mediapersons, SSR’s father Krishna Kumar Singh who had filed an FIR at RajivNagar police station here on July 25 seeking probe into his son’s death this morning conveyed his consent for a CBI probe.He talked to the director general of police, Gupteshwar Pandey who conveyed Singh’s message to Chief Minister.
Home department of Bihar government sent a formal letter to the Union Home ministry recommending handing over the investigation of the case to CBI. Chief Minister said with the case being handed over to the CBI,scope of investigation would be wider.Bihar government through its lawyer Mukul Rohatagi will defend CBI case before the Supreme Court.
Nitish said Mumbai police was not doing its job” properly” in SSR case.The Maharashtra police DG even did not respond to the repeated calls made by his Bihar counterpart,it is strange,CM commented. He regretted the leader of the four members Bihar police team,Vinay Tiwari,IPS was illegally detained and put into forcible quarantine in Mumbai to prevent our team from carrying out investigations into the case registered at Patna.
He alleged political interference in the working of Mumbai police on SSR death case.Chief Minister,Udhav Thackrecy held a meeting when IPS officer from Bihar reached Mumbai and he was detained.”I did not talk to Maharashtra CM since it was not a political issue:,Nitish said.
Chief Minister said Udhav should have learnt from him(Nitish).”I am in the fag end of the third term as chief minister of Bihar.I never interfered in any criminal case.Neither implicated nor defended any criminal:,he claimed.
NCP workers and Karni Sena activists earlier held demonstrations at NCP headquarters on Beer Chand Patel Road in central Patna and shouted anti-Shiv Sena slogans. On Monday,members irrespective of their party affiliations in Bihar legislature had demanded CBI probe into the case.Presidents of all political parties-both ruling and opposition too had called for CBI probe.
